Sixth Form
At
Reigate Grammar School we offer a wide range of enjoyable
and rewarding courses which allow our students to proceed
to successful careers at university and beyond. Obviously
obtaining excellent academic qualifications is a fundamental
aim, but this is balanced with the aim of developing personal
qualities through involvement in activities such as Community
Service, the Duke of
Edinburgh's Award Scheme, the Combined
Cadet Force, music,
drama and sport.
Our academic courses are AS and A2 Levels and we do not offer
vocational qualifications. All students are expected to
take
four A2 subjects. It is expected that all students will take
an exam in either AS or A Level General Studies.
For a summary of the subjects available, go to A-level
courses.
Sixth Form students are able to use the resources of the Sixth
Form Centre (with separate ICT facilities), the ICT department,
the Library and the Careers Library during their private study
time. Follow the link for more information about Careers
and University entry.
The
mentoring scheme that operates within the school encourages
senior students to meet and help junior boys and girls. Sixth
Form mentors are each assigned a small group of Lower First
or First Year pupils whom they meet on a weekly basis to get
to know and help through their first year. Through working
with younger children they develop an understanding of the
difficulties they face as well as a greater awareness of their
own abilities. Sixth Form students are also encouraged to
become involved in coaching junior sports teams after school
and at weekends if their own commitments permit. Such interaction
between age groups benefits all, and develops the community
spirit we hope to foster.
If you would like to obtain a Sixth Form prospectus, please
contact the school.
