Careers & University
entry
The Careers Department provides advice and
information on both future careers and entry to university.
We
attach particular importance to the task of advising students
about the right path to take after leaving school. A team
of experienced staff, working under the direction of the Head
of Careers, is available to help students whenever key decisions
need to be made. The resources of a well-organised library
are supplemented by university visits, talks by visiting speakers
and the opportunity for work experience. There is an annual
Careers Convention, where students can find out about a wide
range of careers and professions.
More than 90% of our leavers go on to university to study
courses ranging from Medicine to War Studies and from Archaeology
to Multimedia Technology. See the panel below for a list of
universities and colleges to which recent RGS leavers have
gone on.
All Sixth Form students at RGS are also
eligible to join Network OR, a scheme which
offers extra help to pupils making their university choices
by putting them in contact with an Old Reigatian currently
at
university reading a similar subject. Once at university,
the scheme aims to put them in touch with an Old Reigatian
in
their
chosen
career.
The help given will range from advice via email or telephone
about choices after university, to opportunities for work
experience. Click
here for further details of this scheme (opens in a new
window).
