GCSE courses
All
pupils at RGS take at least ten GCSEs at the end of the Fifth
Form (Year 11). The core curriculum (compulsory) includes
English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, at least
one Modern Language, and Science (either Double Award or three
separate sciences). Other subjects are then chosen from the

* All pupils take the International GCSE
(IGCSE) in Mathematics and Science and will take IGCSE in
English Language from September 2007. IGCSEs are regarded
as more rigorous than
GCSEs,
and
involve
less coursework. They are fully accepted by all universities.
However, they do not appear in league tables published by
the government.
