Music
Music
is an integral part of the education offered at Reigate Grammar
School. The Department aims to develop the musical potential
of every pupil and create opportunities for those with high
ambition and for those who wish to take part simply for fun.
The emphasis is firmly placed on diversity and versatility
as seen in the varied and challenging concerts held throughout
the academic year.
In addition to curricular music lessons, the School offers
individual tuition on a number of instruments: piano, organ,
flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, violin, viola,
cello, trumpet, cornet, trombone, horn, euphonium, tuba, classical/electric/bass
guitar, drums and percussion. We also provide free tuition
for Grade V Theory and Grades VI-VIII Aural.
Every
pupil is encouraged to join an ensemble as playing and performing
with others is an essential part of any musician's development.
Concerts are held throughout the year and there is also an
annual Community concert which brings together all the School's
musicians, staff, parents and pupils alike, to perform the
major works.
Music Scholarships are available for children entering the
School at 11+, 13+ and 16+. They carry a reduction in fees
of £1,000 per annum which can be supplemented in cases
of need up to a maxiumum of 100% of the school fee.
If you have any further questions about music at Reigate Grammar
School, please contact the Director of Music. Alternatively,
a Music Booklet is available from the school.
