Entry at 13+
For entry in September 2009
Boys
and girls who will be 13 years old on 1st September of the
year of proposed entry sit an Entrance Examination in November
preceding the year of entry. There will be three papers,
one
each in Mathematics, English (see right for
sample papers) and Reasoning (see below). All
candidates will automatically be considered for scholarships.
The closing date for applications is 31 October 2008.
The examination will take place on Thursday 6 November
2008 for entry in September 2009.
All candidates will be invited to spend a day at school towards
the end of the Autumn Term, during which time they will also
be interviewed by a member of staff, and may be asked to
read
a passage out loud and talk about their hobbies and interests.
Candidates from preparatory schools will also be expected
to sit the Common Entrance exam, which will be used by
us
for setting purposes.
The school uses a new computerised
Reasoning Test, which candidates sit online during the
course of the examination day. The questions are a combination
of verbal and non-verbal reasoning and are designed to
be user-friendly.
