Sixth Form Entry (16+)
For entry in September 2009
Applications
for entry into the Sixth Form should be made as soon as
possible
in the academic year before entry is proposed. Two Assessment
Days are available, one in November and one in March. For
entry in 2009, these will be Friday 7 November and Friday
6 March.
The Assessment Day comprises a 45 minute
Reasoning Test, an interview with the Head of Sixth Form
or his Deputy, a tour of the school and short interviews
the Heads of Departments of the subjects that the candidate
wishes to study in the Sixth Form. References from the candidate's
current school will be sought and good GCSE predictions will
be required.
Following the Assessment Day, successful candidates will
receive an offer of a place conditional on achieving at least
58 points at GCSE, where an A* scores 8 points, an A scores
7 points, a B scores 6 points etc. Most
departments
also
expect students to have at least an A grade in those subjects
to be studied at A Level.
Candidates who subsequently obtain all A* grades in their
GCSEs will be awarded an Academic Scholarship of £1,000.
This is in line with internal scholarships awarded to existing
students.
For copies of the current prospectus and
any enquiries, please contact the Admissions Secretary.
