Students set new record
A Level Results
Students at Reigate Grammar School have
achieved the highest ever rate of A and B grades at A Level
in the school’s history. The latest set of results,
published today, saw the percentage of A and B grades jump
to 85.4 per cent, an increase of over 3 per cent on the previous
record. The school’s 100 per cent pass rate at A Level
was also upheld. The percentage of A to C grades awarded
has also broken previous records with a new high of 96.4
per cent.
36 students are celebrating three or more A grades at A
Level with 12 students achieving four A grades and one student
attaining five A grades. All seven Oxford and Cambridge candidates
will now be taking up their places, and over 80 per cent
of RGS students obtained a place at their first choice of
university.
Commenting on the results, David Thomas, Headmaster, said: “This
year’s record breaking grades are testament to the
effort of the students and they have my warm congratulations.
Supported by the dedicated and talented staff here at RGS,
they have worked extremely hard to achieve a truly great
set of exam results and deserve their reward. The students
have grown both academically and as individuals over the
last two years and I wish them every success and happiness
for a bright future as they leave us.”
Following successful A level results, students Robert Blackburn
and Kristina Wooddin are now set to take up their places
on the prestigious Delloitte Scholarship scheme. More than
six hundred applicants apply nationally for the 60 places
offered to undergraduates each year by the ‘Big Four’ accountancy
firm. The two RGS students are now looking forward to support
from world’s fastest growing professional services
firm throughout their university years.
Head Girl, Philippa Dinnage, herself celebrating three A
grades, summed up the mood of RGS students collecting their
results today: “We are delighted and relieved! It
was terrifying coming in today after so many weeks of waiting
over the summer, but when we opened the envelopes there
were certainly some very happy faces! All those hours of
studying have paid off and now we can celebrate and look
forward to a new life at university.”
