Students celebrate Oxford and Cambridge

Eight sixth formers are celebrating after receiving offers from Oxford or Cambridge Universities. The students received the good news during their mock A level exams and following a five month long application and selection process which included interviews at the universities.

Commenting on the students’ success, David Thomas, Headmaster, said: “This is fantastic news for these eight young people who have given a great deal to achieve their success. The eight offers are also verification of the support and hard work of their teachers, who have supported them throughout. The Oxbridge selection is a very challenging process, both academically and personally. I am delighted that again RGS has produced so many successful candidates. They have my warm congratulations.”

The Oxbridge offers follow the school’s record breaking A Level results in summer 2007, with over four out of every five grades awarded an A or B grade. The most recent set of A Level results saw the percentage of A and B grades jump to 85.4 per cent, with an overall pass rate at grades A- C of 100 per cent.
