US Diplomat Visit Sparks
Students' Questions
US Diplomat Mark Johnson paid RGS Six Form
Politics students a visit to given an overview of current
US politics and answer their questions about the country’s
role on the world stage. The students were also given a whistle
stop
tour of the history behind the US political and legal system.
Commented Anna-Rose O’Dwyer, Head
of Politcs: “With
our students closely following the current US presidential
process and
other hot issues involving US intervention, it was very timely
to have someone who could give an accurate insight and background
to the news headlines. I was impressed with the level of
questioning from the students and I know that they appreciated
the honest answers and debate that followed.”
The state of play in Cuba, Iraq, the impact
of the US 'credit crunch' and the increasing challenge from
China’s growing
economy were all topics covered in the lunchtime discussion.
