Business brains compete
for enterprise crown
Budding Sixth Form entrepreneurs pitched
their eco-friendly business plans to a panel of expert judges
in a bid to win the RGS Business Enterprise Challenge 2007.
The judging panel was headed by Creative Director of Nickelodeon
UK, Peter Drake, who returned to his old school to take the
measure of the students’ business ambitions.
Now an annual contest for A Level students, the RGS Business
Challenge begun in the summer with participating teams challenged
to produce and present business plans detailing the launch
of an environmentally themed service or product. The competing
teams put their ideas to the test with a day spent undertaking
market research in the City of London before returning to
school to present their plans.
The winning team, Greenhouse, was crowned champion of the
contest after impressing the judges with an energy efficiency
consultation service for homes. In addition to the best business
idea, the winning students also picked up points for their
research, presentation skills and performance in a challenging
question and answer session, likened to BBC Television’s
Dragons’ Den series.
