The world on a plate
for Modern Languages Week
Origami challenges, Chinese tea parties,
language quizzes and food tasting were all on the menu in
an action packed RGS Languages Week. The festival of language
based activities was designed to give an insight into different
cultures as well as boost students’ language skills
and encourage them to try new activities, such as the school’s
weekly Mandarin Club.
Lunchtimes throughout the week were devoted
to activities from different cultures. Most popular with
the students was
the opportunity to taste fayre from European countries while
testing their general knowledge of the food’s name
and country of origin.
Commented Miss Martina Sowa, Head of German and organiser
of the week: “The activities engaged both the staff
and students and proved to be great fun and in addition brought
focus to our language learning. A general knowledge quiz
tested the brain power of everyone at the school with the
prize going to Matthew Norman who got full marks.”
