Annual orchestral concert success at Harlequin Theatre

For the second year running, the RGS music department held its Autumn Orchestral Concert at a packed Harlequin Theatre, Redhill. Parents, grandparents and friends filled the 500 seat auditorium to enjoy an evening of music provided by the RGS Concert Band, Swing Band, Intermediate String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.

The concert was opened with Royal Air Force March Past (Walford Davies/Dyson) and Holst’s Mars from The Planets played by the RGS Concert Band, lead by Jemima Dickinson. Highlights of the concert also included Mozart’s Papageno’s Aria performed by the Intermediate String Orchestra, lead by Jacob Stirrat, Ellington/Mill’s It Don’t Mean a Thing together with a medley of favourites played by the Swing Band. Following the interval, Concert Band 2 lead with the theme from The Great Escape and Abba’s Dancing Queen before handing over to the Symphony Orchestra, lead by Chanelle Sears.
