Sending an email to ORA
If you are sending an email to us for the first
time, or for the first time from a new email address, there
is a possibility that we will not receive it immediately.
The reason for this is that, for technical reasons to do
with security, we do not always receive emails from 'unknown'
email accounts the first time they are sent. Correctly configured
email servers will automatically resend an email if they
get a failure message and this second email will be permitted
through our security system. The delay is minimal as the
repeat time is a matter of minutes or, at most, a few hours.
Some senders do not receive a failure message when this happens,
so neither of us will know that the email has not arrived.
This is normal practice used by many businesses to reduce
the amount of spam (unwanted emails). There are a small number
of internet service providers who do not configure their
servers correctly and we may not receive those emails. This
is outside our control.
Therefore, if you have not received a reply or acknowledgment
from us (during term time) within a few days, please will
you send your email again. However, on this second occasion
you will need to send your email twice, with the second email
being sent almost immediately after the first. This manual
method mimics the automatic resend and should get through
the security system.
