Tennis

Tennis at RGS is played throughout the summer term.

We run a number of teams for boys and girls including 1st, U15, U14, U13 and U12s. The teams play friendly fixtures against local schools including Caterham, Whitgift, Trinity, Charterhouse and RGS Guildford and are also entered into the Surrey Leagues where in recent years we have enjoyed success by winning through to the finals. Tennis can be chosen as an option in Games for Third Form upwards and we also run lunchtime practices for each year group on different days of the week. There are also beginners’ sessions after school, run by the senior students, and a performance squad for both girls and boys.

A number of both boys and girls teams are entered into the Surrey Festival, the ISTA Championships at Eton and the LTA Team Tennis competition each year. The school has had several successes: reaching the finals of the Plate competition at the ISTA Championships; runners-up at the Surrey Festival and in the LTA Team Tennis in the U15 age group.

We have a strong link with Redhill Tennis Club where some of our home matches are played and also have a professional coach who coaches from January through to the summer term.

RGS Tennis Academy with Boom Tennis

The RGS Tennis Academy in conjunction with Boom tennis coaching delivers high level weekly coaching throughout the year and provides the opportunity for competitive fixtures on a regular basis along with other benefits. We are thrilled to have Boom tennis on board who not only provide the coaching to players of all abilities but also access to the fantastic facilities at Redhill tennis club.
