RGS Drama Tribute to Famous Author

The lights dimmed and the curtain rose to a spell bound audience, when Reigate Grammar School’s most recent school production Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, opened this week.  We welcomed back ex RGS pupil Naomi Petersen, now a professional actress who played Georgia in the original stage production of Louise Rennison’s novel. This was a very poignant night for all, as this week it was announced that Louise Rennison, the books author had sadly passed away. Wanting to do her work proud and to celebrate what an amazing influence she had on teenage readers around the world, students performed the play with passion and gusto.

‘I can’t emphasise enough how brilliant Drama at RGS was, and how much of an influence it has had in my life and career as an actor.  It is thanks to the creative, supportive and joyful atmosphere of the Drama Department that I decided to pursue my dreams of acting for a living, and my fondest memories of Reigate Grammar School are of performing in the plays and musicals.  Starring as Georgia in Angus Thongs and Even More Snogging was my very first job out of Drama School, a job I would probably never have got were it not for the skills, confidence and self-belief I developed thanks to Drama at RGS.  It’s fantastic to come back and see the show five years later where it all began!’  Naomi Petersen, OR
