RGS Spring Concert
On Wednesday evening, this year’s Spring Concert wowed a sold-out St Mary’s Church Centre, featuring performances from Handel and Telemann string pieces to a Samba drumming procession and a chart hit from Clean Bandit.
The RGS visiting music teachers came to the fore, having prepared many small groups in specialist coaching sessions throughout the term. The standard was extremely high, and the variety of instruments and voices, as well as musical genres, kept a large audience highly entertained.
St Mary’s Church Centre provided a warm atmosphere and a generous acoustic. In addition to the smaller instrumental groups, the audience was treated to the Britten Choir singing in close-harmony, Polyphony showing their jazz credentials, ISO with refined Baroque playing and the Swing Band, who closed the concert with an uplifting set of three classic tunes.
Choirs and orchestras have been really busy this term; many congratulations to all those students who have been so committed and contributed to such strong performances.
In the last week of term, RGS Unplugged takes place on Tuesday 28th March at 7.30 in the Recital Room. Admission is free for what will be a wonderfully atmospheric programme of acoustic performances.
