Surrey Athletics Championships

Last week the Junior and Inter Boys and Girls athletics teams competed in the District Competition at K2 along with 13 other teams. The Junior Girls won their competition, the Inter Girls came 2nd, the Junior Boys came 4th and the Inter Boys came 2nd.

Following on from this competition several athletes have been selected to represent South Surrey at the County Championships: Zoe Mitchell, Katie Mackison, Lily Grant, Lucy Broderick, Peggy Winterborn, Vicky Wilkes, Olivia Hammond, Katie Driver, Louisa Grinyer, Brianna Edmunds, Aleisha Hartsilver, Hannah Griffin, Megan Cowan, Evie Keast, Niamh Brown, Louis McLeod, Theo Ellis, Matt North, Ed McTavish, Sam Carney, Owen Knowles, Jo Jenner. Huge congratulations to all on this fantastic achievement.

Club Surreys
Also last weekend, some of our girls competed in the Clubs Surrey Athletics Championships. Lucy Broderick achieved bronze in the 800m with a PB of 2m 18 secs. Lily Grant achieved bronze in the 300m. Hannah Griffin received gold in the triple jump with a fantastic PB leap of 10.60 and silver in the high jump. Finally, Katie Mackison was outstanding in the Javelin achieving Gold with a Surrey record of 39.22m putting her 3rd in the national rankings with a strong possibility of going through to the National Championships in July.
