RGS Summer Festival

Welcome to the 2017 Summer Festival. The calendar at RGS is awash with a wide range of activities throughout the year which showcase the variety of activities on offer as well as the talent of our students young and old. There are over 30 musical concerts during the year, drama productions every term and weekly activities in sport, art, the Combined Cadet Force and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

This term, Activities Week follows exams where students can let their hair down and learn new skills in every aspect of the extra-curricular programme, hone skills already learnt, and put these into practice on various expeditions and activities. Events start with Sports Day on 23 June and culminate in a whole school assembly on 4 July just prior to starting the summer break.

I very much hope that you are able to join us for as many of these activities as possible, to support your children or enjoy a sporting event in the summer sunshine. The experiences and character development that take place beyond the classroom is so important. Whether on local or exotic school trips, on the sports field, in the art studio, in concerts, matches, house events or other opportunities – that is where character is both revealed and developed – come and see how we do this best.

It goes without saying that none of this could take place without the commitment and dedication of the staff at RGS, your support (of course) and the drive of the children themselves. This has been a fantastic year at RGS and everyone is looking forward to a well-earned rest.

With my best wishes,

Shaun Fenton
Headmaster
