UK Ultimate (Frisbee) National Schools Tournament

On Saturday 25 May, two teams from RGS made the 150 mile trek to Birmingham to compete in the annual UK Ultimate National Schools Tournament.

In the U20 competition, the team was composed primarily of Lower Sixth Form students. The team played four matches in a round robin competition. They competed well against some strong competition, the highlight being a nail-biting 10-8 victory against Evolution. Tom Whitton stepped up from the U17s and provided strong handling skills to the team. Fourth Former Joe Jenner made an impressive debut for the first team in his first tournament, fitting into the team with ease competing well for the disc in all areas of the pitch. The school placed 3rd which is very encouraging considering the strength of the other teams there.

In the U17 competition, the team started strongly and made good progress through the day. The group was close, with the third position spot being decided on points difference. This put the team into a lower bracket than they were targeting; nonetheless they worked hard and with great spirit throughout the day, played good Ultimate and were a pleasure to coach
