Rugby Champions on and off the field
Reigate Grammar School’s First XV Rugby Team were crowned national champions twice in their school careers, securing the Rosalyn Park National 7’s Title in 2015 and a national rugby title in the Natwest Trophy Competition in 2017. Not only are they champions on the sports field, their A Level results were superb and the champs are off to some of the UK’s top Universities. Lucas Overtoom, captain of the First XV, secured a fantastic 3A’s in Maths, Economics and Physical Educations and is off to study Business with Accounting at Exeter University. Lucas said:
“Winning the Natwest Cup was a real highlight to finish the season and the boys put in a lot of work off the field to ensure they got excellent results”.
Max Coyle, another superb Rugby player and key contributor to the First XV’s national success, is finishing his RGS career with a professional contract with Harlequins. Max has been an important figurehead in school rugby, playing no fewer than 32 times for the 1st XV; he scored 195 points (39 tries) over three years. Max also managed to fit in playing for England alongside his A level career at RGS.
