Surrey Schools’ Individual Swimming Success

RGS swimmers did exceptionally well in the recent Surrey Schools’ Swimming Competition. RGS girls’ individual medal wins included Katie D (senior 200m individual medley – bronze), Daisy G (inter girls 100m backstroke – silver), Issy H ( inter girls 200m individual medley – silver) and Eva M (junior girls 100m freestyle – bronze).

RGS inter girls – Daisy, Issy, Ruby J, Jemima P and Clara A placed top overall. Their excellent score plus great swims from all RGS girls meant that overall RGS finished just one point behind the eventual joint winners. This is an incredible achievement, especially given the strength of the competition. The other swimmers in addition to those listed above were: Abigail C, Freya T, Isobel R, Megan C, Amy B, Ashleigh S, Megan S and Isabel W. Top Co-Ed for girls in Surrey is a fabulous achievement!

The boys swam in the evening and put in some fine performances. Toby S won the inter boys 100m backstroke, Owen K gained a silver in the senior 100m breaststroke, Tomos K took silver in the inter 200 individual medley and Elis K won bronze in the 100m junior breaststroke. Ioan K managed a 4th place so it was a good day for their family! Other boys who took part and also swam well were Albert W, Ali N, Myles H, Tom E, Alex MJ, Charlie J and Patrick FJ.

The competitors now go in to a few weeks of county championships so hopefully their individual successes will continue.
