RGS Hans Woyda Team Secure their place in the Final

Congratulations to the team of Connie BS, Andrew H, Chris M and Lakith G who overcame Alleyn’s school by 45 points to 41 in an extremely close semi-final to qualify for the final of the Southern Section of the Hans Woyda Plate Competition.

The team showed their nerves in the first few rounds and found themselves trailing by 6 points at the half way point; this could perhaps be put down to a less than ideal preparation with traffic jams resulting in a nightmare journey! However, the team rallied and buoyed by scoring full marks in the team round, managed to close the deficit to 4 points leading into the final head-to-head round. A battle of speed and intellect ensued and the RGS team found themselves level on points with 3 questions remaining. Chris M then gave RGS the lead for the first time in the competition with 2 questions remaining, leaving team captain, Connie BS to hold her nerve in the final question of the competition to seal the comeback and a much deserved place in the final.

The team will now face Tiffin’s Girls School on Wednesday 7th March at Dulwich College. We wish them the best of luck in the final!
