CCF Adventure Training Camp

Two days of mountain biking at Coed y Brenin, the UK’s first and largest dedicated mountain bike trail centre, kicked off this year’s CCF adventure training camp. There’s nothing like driving over the Moelwyns through snow to get you moving on the downhill skills track and trails to keep warm! RGS cadets developed impressive skills and put the staff to shame on the blue and red runs on the second day.

The following day saw the group basking in sunshine during a day’s outdoor climbing at Lion Rock. They took on some lovely diffs and challenging severes followed by a top rope and abseiling session to finish the day.

The snow was back the next day so it was off to the Beacon Climbing Centre for some bouldering, auto belays and very impressed lead climbing from the cadets. Paddling on Llyn Padarn proved a good intro to kayaking and canoeing ready for the journey to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Velocity 2, at 1.5km and 120mph is the longest zip line in Europe and the fastest in the world, made a bold and thrilling finish to our adventurous week!
