Record breaking GCSE results for RGS

  • The typical Reigatian secured entirely 9-7 grades (A*-A equivalent)
  • More 8s and 9s (A* equivalent) than all other grades put together
  • Record breaking GCSE results for Reigate Grammar School

To add to the excellent A Level results last week, Reigate Grammar School had an outstanding set of GCSE results. Almost 60% of grades were 9-8 (A* or higher), 80% were 9-7 (A*-A) and a 100% pass rate across the board.

Despite media stories of scarcity of top grades, RGS were delighted to have achieved a huge number of level 9s. For example, 42% of History grades were at the new super high level 9. Subjects with 100% 9-6 grades included Arabic, Art, Chinese, Design Technology, French, Greek, German, History, Italian, Music, Physical Education, Philosophy and Theology and Statistics.

Twenty students achieved a clean sweep of 9/8 grades (A* equivalent) including Juliet A, Ethan B, Amy B, Lauren C, Emily C, Isabella CB, Rachel E, Hannah G, Louisa G, Cecily H, Sophia H, Adam J, Mark J, Owen K, Lorna MG, Emily M, Isabel N, Jack R, Malavika S and Jamie-Jack S. Congratulations to all who secured these tremendous results.

The outstanding overall results are remarkable as they have been achieved by students who have not only been focussed on their academics, but are energetic on the sports fields, top class musicians and performers and active contributors to all things extra-curricular at RGS; true Reigatians.

Headmaster, Shaun Fenton, said:

Exam results only measure a part of what makes a great education and Reigatians should be proud of their individual achievements. They will have great memories, great friendships and will have learned about themselves as they prepare for Sixth Form study. I am so very proud of this year group and I hope they will be happy, healthy and high achieving as young adulthood awaits.

As always, the majority of students will be staying on at RGS to pursue their subjects of choice at A Level, benefitting from the new Harrison Centre which houses a new Sixth Form Centre with café, study area, innovation room, terrace, gardens and other social facilities, in addition to a state-of-the-art university style library and learning centre.
