Hockey Pre-season Performance Tour to Holland

In the last week of the holidays 53 girls from RGS’s U14, U16 and U18 squads travelled to Noorwijk in Holland for an intensive five days of pre-season high performance hockey. The tour comprised of three training sessions, three high quality matches, one early morning beach conditioning session, one amusement park visit, severe lack of sleep, six very tired staff members and lots of singing on the bus! The tour was a great success – lots of fun and a great opportunity to cram in some intensive training before the season kicks off.

Student Success

  • Peggy W represented Saxon Tigers U15s at England Hockey’s Futures Cup – scoring twice!
  • Steph W represented Saxon Tigers U17s at England Hockey’s Futures Cup – scoring a great goal (which was featured on England Hockey’s twitter feed)
  • Jemma W (GK) represented Wessex Leopards U17s at England Hockey’s Futures Cup – being involved in the penalty shoot out to win the overall competition

After playing in this competition, the girls were in the running for NAGS (National Age Groups Squads) selection which was announced last week. Jemma and Peggy were selected for further NAGS assessment. This is a great achievement and they now have the opportunity to attend weekend camps with England Hockey where they will be watched by the England selectors. From this Peggy could be selected for the England U16 squad and Jemma could be selected to the U18 squad. Well done girls we are very proud of all of you.
