Over the last two weeks RGS has competed in the boys’ and girls’ District Cross Country events at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School. Fourteen schools took part with up to eighty competitors in each race. RGS fielded athletes in all age groups; finishing well would mean qualifying for the county event at Reigate Priory on 19 January.

In the girls’ team event, the First Form won overall with Gabi H finishing 1st, Emily W 16th and Tilly PD 22nd. In the Second Form, Lucy D medalled in 3rd with Ellie H and Devon M coming 7th and 8th respectively. Eva M medalled in 3rd in the Third Form race with Sara M in 10th.

In the intermediate girls’ race, Issy H won silver whilst Lucy B took the bronze. Mia J came in 9th and Machayla D in 10th.

RGS had one competitor in the senior girls’ race, Emelye KB, who came home in 1st position to take the gold.

The intermediate boys’ team won their event with Patrick B finishing 2nd and taking silver, Tomos K 13th, James McD 12th, Theo L 6th and Xander L 9th . The First Form boys came 2nd overall with Sammy T being RGS’s top finisher in 8th position. The Second Form also finished 2nd overall with Gusie L and Henry R finishing in 8th and 10th respectively.
