Beyond the Classroom: “How the Government makes use of forecasts”

Andy Sutton and Katy Simpson of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) presented a talk on how the Government uses forecasts. They gave the audience an idea about the numerous factors which make forecasts so hard to get right but how nevertheless they have helped the decision making process of government.

The talk will have given students an idea about the complexities of the real world and the importance of developing skills to make them ready to face future challenges.
