John Rutter ‘Come and Sing’
Over 300 people braved the difficult weather conditions to come to St Mary’s Church on Saturday in order to take part in a ‘Come and Sing’ day with the famous choral composer, John Rutter. Expectations were high for a wonderful day of singing and no one was disappointed. The choristers and children from other local schools were privileged to sit on the stage, close to John Rutter, who coached and conducted them as they sang some of their favourite anthems, composed by the man himself. Reigatian, Eleanor Bond said,
I will always remember today. It has been wonderful.
John Rutter generously gives his time to choral singing days such as these as he is a firm believer in the power of singing together and its ability to unite people. The benefits of community singing were clear to see as everyone went away feeling uplifted and jubilant. Mrs Glynne-Jones would like to thank all the volunteers from the RGS and RSM community who gave up their time to make this day possible.
