RGS’s Netball 1st team makes history
On Tuesday RGS’s Netball U19 1st team made history by qualifying for a place in the last four in the country of the Independent National School’s Netball Cup.
The team travelled to Epsom College to take on a very athletic, strong team. The sports hall was full of spectators and the noise too loud to hear the umpire, but the pressure did not phase RGS’s squad of 12. After some great shooting by Megan, RGS were five up in the first quarter and feeling quietly confident. However, there was no room for complacency.
The second quarter ended with RGS just one point up and the team needed some fresh legs. On came Bernie and Izzie and with the extra energy added, RGS started to creep ahead once more.
In the final quarter there was no stopping the Reigate girls and after Epsom tried to change their team, allowing RGS to make some changes, #TeamReigate managed to play all 12 girls in the game to win a place in the semi-finals which will be against either Millfield, Queen Ethalburga, or Bromsgrove school. RGS won with an astounding score of 40-28.
Congratulations to the team on such a brilliant victory. Training will be stepping up now in preparation for the next round.
