Rugby Sevens

The Rugby Sevens programme was in full swing last weekend with the 1st VII travelling to Worth and the U14 VII travelling to QE Barnet. In testing conditions, the 1st VII played some superb rugby, combining robust, smothering defence with free-flowing and Fiji-esque attack. They overcame strong opposition, with victories over KCS Wimbledon in the semi and Hurstpierpoint in the final to win the Vase Trophy. It was just reward for an incredibly hard-working team, primarily made up of U16 and Lower Sixth Form boys.

The U14 VII had a tough group at the QE Barnet Sevens with narrow losses to Teddys, Oxford and Abingdon (eventual runners up) but did claim a particularly impressive victory over Wellington College. They narrowly missed out on progressing through to the plate competition by eight points! It was a day of learning and development with the exciting prospect of the Rosslyn Park 7’s to look forward to in a couple of weeks.
