RGS unplugged

On Tuesday night, the Recital Room was the location for this term’s Unplugged concert featuring eighteen songs selected and performed by students. Making their Unplugged debut were Jemima B, Esther W, JJ S, Archie C, Finn N, Ellie M, Rupert E, Amy W, Sereena P, and Maebh G.

The concert featured a wide range of music, from Frank Sinatra, to Harry Styles and two songs chosen from the recent A Star is Born film. The songs were all performed acoustically accompanied by either acoustic guitar or piano.

The evening began with Always Remember Me This Way sung by Eibhlin G and accompanied by a string quartet of Sophia H, Freya B, Ella H and Emeline F with Alex P on piano. The mood of the evening then switched completely to the weird, but strangely catchy song Lemon Boy which was performed by Mark J. Also returning to perform at Unplugged were Eibhlin G, Annie J, Emelye KB, Alex P, Jemima H, Louisa G and Freya M.

The standard of performance was very high with the songs showcasing the different characteristics of each voice. The concert finished with Maebh G (the youngest student performing), with Eibhlin G and Rupert E singing a heart-warming version of All I Want by Kodaline.
