Volunteering Fair

The Sixth Form Volunteer Fair saw organisations including The Alzheimer’s Society, The Children’s Trust and Reigate and Redhill Live at Home exhibiting in the Harrison Centre. The day provided a fantastic opportunity for students to find out about all the wonderful volunteering opportunities in the local community. Whether it’s an interest in social care, the environment, history, medicine, sport, entertainment, or social action there was something for everybody.

Sixth Form students already give up their time so freely through DofE and through other commitments. The 5000 volunteer hours given last prove how outward looking RGS students are. The volunteering fair was a further opportunity for students to step back from their everyday lives, providing additional ideas about how they could contribute in whatever way they can to those who perhaps aren’t as fortunate.

Whichever career they are interested in, students will almost certainly find a volunteering opportunity that develops soft skills such as leadership and teamwork that will stand them in good stead for university and the world of work.
