The inaugural RGS ‘Swishing’ event, held on Thursday 13 February, was a great success
The verb ‘to swish’ in this context means to swap clothes with friends or acquaintances with the worthy intention of reducing clothes waste and bucking the ‘fast fashion’ trend of cheap, disposable clothing.
Students across the school were invited to have a clear out, and to donate their unwanted clothes. 60 took up the opportunity, receiving tokens in return, which they could then use to swap for new clothes.
The Concert Hall was filled with over 160 students who came browsing, in search of updating their wardrobe. Many had been given tokens by friends so that they could participate, which was lovely to see. The few items left over at the end will be donated to a local charity shop.
Mari Kondo would be proud!
