RGS Earthshot

This week, the school welcomed Professor Klaus Dodds from Royal Holloway University to deliver the latest Earthshot lecture on A new Cold War? Why the Antarctic is on the brink of an international power struggle. Students and parents from RGS, Reigate College and Reigate School enjoyed a fascinating insight into the challenges facing this fragile environment particularly around issues of global governance. A huge thank you to Lower Sixth student Aurelia N for organising and hosting the event.

Our previous lecture in January was from Claire Sammons-Evans who is Sustainability Lead at The Prevented Ocean Plastic Research Centre in London.  Claire gave an informative talk about plastics and our oceans entitled  Revive Our Oceans –The value of plastic and how the Prevented Ocean Plastic programme is more than just a global cleanup operation.

We hope to continue our programme of events from RGS Earthshot which was launched in 2022 by then Head Girl Jasmine F and Head Boy Tom D, to encourage a whole school commitment to sustainability.
