RGS Shakespeare in Love Nominated for Four Awards!
We are excited to announce that Reigate Grammar School’s production of Shakespeare in Love has been nominated for four National School Theatre Awards 2025! After a magical run in December, we are proud to see our talented cast and crew recognised on a national stage.
Best Play
Best Actor – Fergus W (William Shakespeare)
Best Actress – Alex C (Viola de Lesseps)
Best Supporting Actor – Elliot D-G (Kit Marlowe)
The National School Theatre Awards judge praised the performance, describing it as “a comic delight”. The review celebrated the cast’s outstanding performances, with special mentions for Fergus and Alex’s moving portrayal of Shakespeare and Viola, as well as the entire ensemble’s excellent comedic timing.
The production, directed by Mr David Jackson, featured a cast of 36, stunning period costumes, a cleverly designed multi-level set, and even thrilling sword fights choreographed by Mr Matt Burns. The judge particularly noted the seamless scene transitions, engaging storytelling, and the balance of humour and heartfelt romance that made the show so captivating.
We eagerly await the awards ceremony on 25th June 2025 at The Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. No matter the outcome, we are incredibly proud of everyone involved — cast, crew, and staff— who brought this spectacular production to life.
