Andrew H – International Physics Olympiad
Congratulations to Andrew H who has won a place on the International Physics Olympiad Team, representing Britain at the annual global competition in Tel Aviv in July. which features students from 88 other countries. This amazing feat has not been achieved by a student at RGS since Rhys T represented the UK in 2015 in Denmark.
The team of five, selected after three rounds of the British Physics Olympiad, a national test which is designed to stretch the thinking and problem-solving skills of young physicists, were presented with their medals at a celebration lunch at the Royal Society on Thursday 25 April.
Success was also plentiful for RGS students in the earlier rounds of the British Physics Olympiad. Ellie K and Tom B both made it to round two, gaining a bronze medal and commendation respectively. In the AS Challenge, Kieran T gained a silver medal (awarded to those who are placed among the top five to ten per cent nationally) and a further eight students achieved bronze medals.
This has been a superb year for Physics at RGS and we look forward to seeing what the GCSE students can bring later in the year.
