RGS Choral Cathedral Tour

The RGS Godfrey Searle Choir and Polyphony set off to the West Country over half-term to sing evensong in the beautiful Exeter Cathedral. Reigatian and ex-head boy Jonathan Greener, the recently appointed Dean, welcomed the choir and led the service before hosting a reception for alumni given by The RGS Foundation. Talitha Glynne-Jones was fascinated to hear stories from ex-choristers, some now in their 80s, who had been choristers at St Mary’s in the 1940s. They were delighted to hear evensong sung, bringing back happy memories of their days in the choir with Godfrey Searle himself.

Following on from Exeter, the choir sang another evensong at Winchester Cathedral in front of many family and friends, relishing the candlelit atmosphere and resonant acoustic of the majestic building. Thank you to all who made it along to share in this experience which we hope the students will remember for a long time to come.
