Loveworks Charity Concert
On Saturday 26 January both RSM and RGS collaborated to organise a charity concert in liaison with Loveworks. We invited elderly guests from the local community to come along and listen to the glorious singing of the Godfrey Searle Choir – led by Mrs Glynn-Jones and accompanied by Mr Evans.
Harrison Catering donated a hugely generous amount of sandwiches and cakes for everyone, RGS students from both the Lower School and the Upper Sixth Form volunteered to serve the elderly and chatted with them throughout the afternoon. The choir sang beautifully and then the concert ended with a group ‘sing-a-long’ to some well-known wartime classics.
It was a hugely successful and enjoyable afternoon which reflected the growing links between RGS, RSM and the wider community. Thank you to all the student and staff volunteers (from RGS, RSM and Loveworks) who gave up their Saturday afternoon to come along and help, thank you to the beautiful choir for their heavenly singing and thank you to Harrison Catering for providing the food, tea and coffee.
It was great to see the mixing of generations, the elderly enjoyed it because they were able to get out of the house and were treated to a concert. It’s lovely for us to get to know them better and vice versa. Finally, I really enjoyed working with students from the lower school who also chose to volunteer.
