Chief Scout’s Gold Award for Rebecca W

Congratulations to Third Form student Rebecca W who has been awarded the Chief Scout’s Gold Award. The award is the premier award of the Scouts and the highest a Guide may achieve. It is a difficult badge to earn and to do so one must complete a number of challenges including learning about the world, teamwork, outdoors, expedition, and adventure. Young people that have earned this award have shown great resilience, commitment, and determination and should all be rightfully proud of their achievements.

Not many Scout leaders have known anyone achieve the Gold award; Rebecca has been going to scouts for four and a half years and never expected such an accolade. She was presented with the award and attended a formal reception and county presentation in July.

Scouting is a powerful force in shaping young people and empowering them to identify and realise their ambitions. Through an expedition, fears are conquered, friendships are strengthened, new relationships are built, unforgettable stories are written, character is revealed, potential is fulfilled and confidence soars!

Rebecca has loved all the activities, almost all of which are practical and led by Chief Scout Bear Grylls, and they help in everyday life as well as emergency situations.
