Reigate and Redhill ‘Live At Home’ scheme afternoon tea at RGS
On Tuesday 12 November, all members of the First Form hosted afternoon tea in the Drama Studio Café for 19 members of the Reigate and Redhill Live At Home scheme. The scheme offers support and friendship to older people living in their own homes; helping to maintain independent living, improve wellbeing and reduce isolation. RGS students treated our visitors to homemade cakes and shortbread and sang a mix of swing and other songs.
Live At Home volunteers who attended along with the scheme’s members commented:
“we had an amazing time today, and were thrilled to have enjoyed a delightful afternoon of entertainment.”
One of the visitors said that she found it
“lovely to be surrounded by happy young children”.
RGS staff were very proud to see pupils engaging with the visitors, and learning a lot of interesting information from them about their lives. Even the more shy among our First Formers found it easy to open up to and communicate with the visitors.
