Welcome to Reigate Grammar School
We are delighted to show parents and families around Reigate Grammar School, and we are proud to say that visitors frequently comment on how friendly our welcome is. We are pleased to open our doors to visitors once again, in a safe and responsible way.
In light of the ever-changing Covid-19 situation, there has been an important format change to our open events.
We, like all schools, are battling last minute changes to government advice. With this in mind, we have come to the reluctant decision that we are not allowed to bring large groups of visitors into the school at the present time and are therefore making some changes to our forthcoming open mornings.
Virtual Live Q&A Events:
We have planned Virtual Live Q&A events in place of the scheduled Working Open Mornings. Mr. Fenton, the Headmaster, will start the meeting at 9.15am by showing a short video and then will ask for questions from all attendees. Mrs Lawson, Assistant Head in charge of transition and Mrs Watkins, Admissions Registrar, will also be available to answer questions.
Live Q&A: Thursday 10 September: 9.15-10.30am: 2021 entry only
Live Q&A: Friday 18 September: 9.15-10.30am: All years
Individual Tours of the main school site:
We fully understand the importance of visiting the school in person, to get a feel for who we are, so we have put together a safe plan to offer individual tours of the school, specifically for families interested in 2021 entry.
In order to ensure the safety of both the visiting family and our school community, we have put a number of protocols in place:
- Tours to be conducted by staff members or parent ambassadors
- Tours to only take place during lessons where there is no cross-over of students
- Tours to last strictly 30 mins in order to allow a buffer of students getting to/from lessons
- Visitors will be limited to a maximum of 3 individuals per slot (2 parents+ 1 child)
- Temperature checks for all visitors conducting private tours.
- Face coverings to be worn by all visitors and tour guide for the duration of the tour
- 2 metres social distancing between visitor and tour guide and any students/teachers for the duration of the tour
- Visitors are not able to go into classrooms, but can view from the door if it is safe to do so
- Ensure tour route follows the school’s one-way system and wider corridors and tries to keep to outside spaces as much as possible
- Tour guide and visitor to hand sanitize on entry to buildings
- Majority of talking between tour guide and visitor to take place outside
Virtual Open Events:
In addition to the Live Q&As and Individual Tours we will be running a more extensive virtual open event once a month between now and November. The first one will take place when the Annual Open Morning was scheduled on Saturday 26 September. These virtual open events will follow a similar format to the Live Q&As but will also include speeches from the Headmaster, Assistant Head, Students and a Video Tour of the school. There will be breakout rooms within the Q&A session to enable you to ask questions to various departments.
Virtual Sixth Form Information and A Level Options Evening: Wednesday 23 September: 6.00-8.30pm: 2021 entry only
Virtual Open Event: Saturday 26 September: 9.30-11.00am: 2021 entry only
Virtual Open Event: Tuesday 13 October: 9.15-11:00am: All years

We really hope that we can return to our normal Working Open Morning format once government guidelines state that we can allow groups of visitors into the school. In the meantime, we do hope you will join us on a personal tour (more details to follow soon) and register for the Virtual Live Q&A and Virtual Open Events taking place this term.
Our admissions team are on hand, just as they always have been, to answer any questions you may have.
Of course there is no substitute for visiting us, but we hope that the following provide a small insight into our community:
