Entry at 13+ Pre-Test 2027

The recommended route for 13+ applications

There are two routes for entry to Reigate Grammar School at 13+. Candidates may either sit the entrance examination whilst they are in Year 8 or sit the 13+ pre-test whilst they are in Year 6.

13 + Pre-Test entrance procedure
(for candidates in Year 6)

Candidates wishing to join the school at 13+ in September 2027 may sit the entrance examination whilst they are in Year 6. Boys and girls who will be 13 years old on the 1 September of the year of proposed entry sit an entrance examination in the spring term of Year 6. Three areas will be assessed: Mathematics, English and verbal & non-verbal Reasoning. Sample papers can be found below.

  • Application deadline (includes bursary/scholarship registration): Monday 11 November 2024
  • Scholarship forms returned by: Monday 25 November 2024
  • Bursary forms returned by: Friday 3 January 2025
  • Entrance Exam: Tuesday 7 January 2025 – During the day, prospective pupils also have the opportunity to sample one of the many activities that are on offer. All candidates will automatically be considered for academic scholarships.
  • Interview days: Saturday 18 January and Saturday 25 January 2025 – Candidates are interviewed by a member of staff and will be asked to talk about their hobbies and interests. Candidates will also have a group interview with the Headmaster.
  • Scholarship Assessment Days: Saturday 18, Wednesday 22, Thursday 23, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 January 2025

ENTRANCE EXAM GUIDANCE (for 2027 entry)

There will be three exams: Mathematics, English and a written Reasoning test (verbal and non-verbal). Sample entrance examination papers for 13+ pre test entry can be found below.
