ENTRANCE EXAM GUIDANCE
This year we have altered the English entrance exam (for children applying for 11+ 2021 entry/13+ 2023 entry), reducing the paper time from 60 to 30 minutes. The revised format will focus on understanding children’s writing skills.
The time for the writing task is the same as it has been in previous years. However, we have also added some support for students to plan out their ideas this year. We hope that this will help all students to flourish during their assessment. Please do not worry if you have spent time practising comprehension as these are excellent skills as is reading which remains very important. We encourage all future Reigatians to read, read read! The sample included here will give your child an indication of how the paper will be laid out and what they can expect from the RGS English assessment in January.
This year we have altered the Maths entrance exam (for children applying for 11+ 2021 entry/13+ 2023 entry), reducing the paper time from 45 to 30 minutes. The revised format will help us to see children’s understanding of KS2 maths. The content will be same, there will simply be less of it! We understand that different schools will cover different topics at different times and the papers are marked with this in mind.
The sample included here will give your child an indication of how the paper will be laid out and what they can expect from the RGS maths assessment.
All children will be asked to sit a Reasoning Paper (by hand). We are reducing the time of this from 60 to 30 minutes. The paper will include a combination of verbal and non-verbal questions.
The computerised example here provides a sample of the types of questions that will appear in the RGS paper assessment.
For more information or if you have any queries please contact the Admissions Registrar, Mrs Philippa Watkins on 01737 222231 or email: email@example.com
In advance of any entrance examination or interview, we will always ask each candidate’s current school for a written report. It is therefore important that parents inform their child’s current school that they have lodged an application with us.
