Sport
Reigate Grammar School is renowned for its sport and prowess on the games field. Our aim is to provide all students with a sports programme that will foster a lifelong involvement in sport.
We believe in the power of sport in creating good people. Our games and PE programmes are designed to facilitate both the pursuit of excellence and ‘sport for all’ – offering a wide range of activities and sporting opportunities which put the development of young people at the centre of all we do – Excellence through Sport for all.
There are many opportunities to represent Team Reigate in teams across a range of competitive sports as well as recreational activities within the co curricular programme. Many of these fixtures are played at RGS Hartswood, where we have 32 acres of playing fields which include two all-weather pitches for Hockey and Tennis and numerous grass pitches which host Cricket, Rugby, Football, Athletics and Ultimate Frisbee fixtures to name a few. At the school site there is an indoor swimming pool, dance studio, netball courts, two fitness suites, Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and a sports hall.
The main games for boys and girls throughout the year are outlined below (though sports are not exclusive to nor restricted to the terms listed) :

We have a strong history of supporting the development of talented sportsmen and women with a large number of students going on to represent their counties, region and country in a wide variety of sports. The main aim of our Sports Scholarship programme is to give students the support they need to balance their training and competition commitments with their academic, social and family lives. The Sports department in partnership with the year group teams and academic staff work hard to provide all students with an environment where they can have fun, learn valuable skills and build up a positive association with sport and physical activity.
Team Reigate has a coaching strategy which is continuously evolving – challenging students and staff to be creative and developing resilient young men and women who value both fun and hard work. We are fortunate to have a large number of staff who have competed or coach at a high level. All our coaches believe in a student centred approach where we look at the development of the person both on and off the sports field. We want to develop students who are proud to be part of Team Reigate and who value the importance of sport and physical activity long after they have left the school.
