Reigate Grammar School is renowned for its sport and prowess on the games field. Our aim is to provide all students with a sports programme that will foster a lifelong involvement in sport.

We believe in the development of the whole child, and our games and PE programme is designed as much for those who enjoy some weekly exercise as it is for those who play in the many school teams.

There are many opportunities to represent Reigate Grammar in teams across a range of competitive sports as well as a range of recreational activities. Many of these are played at Hartswood, where we have 32 acres of playing fields which include two all-weather pitches for hockey and tennis. At the school site there is an indoor swimming pool, dance studio, netball courts, a fitness suite, and a sports hall. The main games for boys and girls throughout the year are outlined below:

Rugby, Swimming
Spring:  Hockey, Swimming
Summer:  Cricket, Athletics, Tennis.

Autumn:  Hockey, Swimming
Spring:  Netball, Swimming
Summer:  Athletics, Tennis, Rounders.

There are also sporting opportunities in cross country, indoor hockey, squash, ultimate frisbee, football, fitness and conditioning, sailing, indoor rowing, rugby 7s, badminton and golf.

We have a strong history of supporting the development of talented sportsmen and women with a large number of students going on to represent their counties, region and country in a wide variety of sports. The main aim of our Sports Scholarship programme is to give students the support they need to balance their training and competition commitments with their academic, social and family lives. The PE department in conjunction with our professional coaches work hard to provide all students with an environment where they can have fun, learn valuable skills and build up a positive association with sport and physical activity.

Reigate has a coaching strategy which is continuously evolving and we are fortunate to have a large number of staff who have competed or coach at a high level. All our coaches believe in a player centred approached where we look at the Long Term Athlete Development of our students. We believe it encourages the pupils to think for themselves and help to raise the individual’s self-awareness.

Headmaster’s Scholarships are available for Sport for children entering the School at 11+, 13+ and 16+. They carry a reduction in fees of up to 30% of fees.
