Netball runs alongside Hockey as the leading sport for girls.

There are major block fixtures on Saturday mornings during the Spring term with some matches and tournaments being played mid-week during both the Autumn and Spring term against other leading netball schools.

Fixtures involve A-D teams at junior level and A-C at senior level. As well as the regular fixtures we enter A-C teams into the South Surrey Tournaments and our A teams for each year group compete in the Surrey Tournaments. We select teams to be entered into the National School Championships and our U14 team have recently made it through to the regional round. Two age groups are ranked as the highest achieving co-educational Netball school in Surrey and our U13’s are ranked 3rd in the county. In addition, we successfully run a Netball Tour within the UK or overseas every day for both junior and senior age groups.

Netball training takes places after school until 5.15pm, during lunchtimes as well as during games sessions. Training sessions focus on developing ball handling skills, fitness levels, knowledge of the rules and tactics of the game as well as the implementation of set plays. Training is open to all pupils, however in the Autumn term it is offered to those who are training for county tournaments and National School competitions only. Training sessions are run by PE and Games teachers as well as a specialist coaches. In addition, we have benefited from occasional training sessions by the coach of Surrey Storm Netball.

We very much encourage the girls to play for outside clubs when not representing the school and take pride in the number of girls that are representing their county in a variety of age groups. Several girls are members of the Surrey Elite and Development training academies at both U14 and U19 level.

We also aim to promote a lifelong enjoyment for playing netball and offer a highly successful inter-house netball competition at the end of the Spring term which promotes widespread participation.
