Business (BTEC)

Businesses help individuals develop new skills, innovate by designing new products and services and create wealth in local, national and international communities.

Business is at the core of the economy. With brands such as Apple’s net worth exceeding that of countries such as: Italy and Russia, it is easy to recognise the significance business plays in the world we live in today. Businesses are at the forefront of skill development, innovation and provide opportunities for employment and wealth in local, national, and international communities.

Studying the Level 3 Business qualification provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the key processes and functions of business, alongside the development of fundamental transferable skills e.g., presentation, research, and teamwork skills employers are seeking from today’s job market. Students taking similar Level 3 qualifications at RGS have gone on to higher education, receiving offers from universities such as Durham and Birmingham as well as other top 20 universities.

The level 3 business qualification is assessed through a series of internal and external units. The course has a vocational stance; students gain enriched experiences through being placed in hypothetical contexts including working in roles such as: recruitment, events management, marketing consultancy and human resource management.

Learners can study the qualification in multiple formats including the: L3 diploma in business, which is the equivalent of two A Levels, this will be supplemented by a further one or two A Levels (considered on an individual basis). Similarly, students can study the BTEC L3 extended diploma which is the equivalent of three A Levels and a full-time course.
