Pastoral care

The happiness of our students is our primary concern and we pride ourselves on the quality of our pastoral care.

Each student will be allocated a personal tutor, who is also a subject specialist in one of their A Level subjects, and will remain with them throughout their time in the Sixth Form. Personalised pastoral care is the foundation stone of our academic and extra-curricular success; we aim for students to not just be happy but fulfilled and have a sense of their own identity and self-worth.

Students will be asked to think about and review their progress, both academically and pastorally, in conversations with their tutor, and to think individually about what they wish to achieve, in and out of the classroom, and how we can help support them to realise their dreams.

Whilst we ensure that we are responsive to the needs of the individual, we also have a progressive pastoral agenda that deals with key issues for young adults on a half-termly basis. Recent themes have included emotional resilience, connecting with people in a global community and everyday leadership. We regularly welcome outside speakers to deliver keynote lectures.

The school also has an independent, BACP Accredited/Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist providing a flexible school counselling service for students and staff. Should students require any learning support, we have a dedicated on site team who work in tandem with the wellbeing team – please see the learning support page for further details
