The BAAS Barringer/Monticello Teacher Fellowship

The Barringer/Monticello Research Fellowship is aimed at teachers of American History and Politics. Each year, it is awarded to a group of teachers to allow them to conduct research and develop teaching resources during the summer at Thomas Jefferson’s plantation, in Monticello, Virginia.

Though the programme is aimed at teachers in the US, each year the British Association for American Studies (BAAS) also funds a teacher from the UK to take up a place. This year Miss Holliss, (Assistant Head of History and Politics)  was fortunate enough to be awarded the Fellowship and so will be travelling to Virginia this summer in order to work with the other teachers to engage with historians working on relevant research and to develop resources for RGS’s own use and for the Centre for Jefferson Studies to publish.
