Mr Mark Elsey - Chair

Mark joined the Board of Governors of Reigate Grammar School in 2012 and has been Chair since December 2021. 

Educated at Reigate Grammar School and King’s College London, Mr Elsey attended Chancery Lane Law School before joining Cameron Markby as a trainee solicitor. He is now a Partner at Ashurst where he heads up the Energy, Transport and Infrastructure sector. 

Mark's son and daughter both attended Reigate Grammar School. His family connections with the school are extensive: he met his wife, Jacqueline, while at RGS; his father and father-in-law both attended the school. Mark is a member of Old Reigatian RFC and of Reigate Heath Golf Club. His charity work includes his role as Board member at Great Ormond Street Hospital Raising the Roof Charity and Chairman of the RGS London Professional Group, in support of the RGS Foundation raising funds towards ‘needs blind’ entry to RGS. 


Mr Duncan Anderson

Duncan was a Micklefield Governor from 2018 and joined the RGS Board in 2024 when the schools merged. He is a member of the Finance & Foundation Committee. 

Duncan was educated at Hereford Cathedral School before graduating in mathematics from Cambridge University and then qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. 

He has worked for WTW and its predecessor companies (Watsons, Watson Wyatt, EMB, Towers Watson) for over 35 years, in both general insurance consultancy and related software development.  He specialises in motor insurance pricing analytics and has spoken on this in seminars in over 30 countries.  Since 2017 he has led WTW’s global Insurance Technology business, which provides specialist software to over 1,000 insurers worldwide. 

Duncan is married with four daughters, all of whom attended RGS.  He has been a resident of Reigate since 1990.


Dr Shrilla Banerjee

Shrilla joined the Board of Governors in 2021 and is a member of the Education & Welfare Committee.  

Shrilla is a Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in prevention and intervention (angioplasty and stenting) of coronary artery disease. Her research interests lie in Women’s Cardiovascular Health and she was also a Cardiologist for the Civil Aviation Authority assessing fitness to fly of commercial and private pilot licence holders. 

In her current position at East Surrey Hospital, Dr Banerjee is the Lead for Education, responsible for the training and supervision of cardiology trainees, and runs the cardiology Education programme.  She is also an NHS Ambassador for Education, involved in the work experience programme for schools. 

She was elected on to the Council of the British Cardiovascular Society and the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, where she Chaired the Focus Group for Women in Interventional Cardiology looking at how we can attract more women into Interventional Cardiology, support existing female trainees and Consultants and ensure excellent representation and visibility of women in the field.  

Outside of work, Shrilla enjoys spending time with her family, keeping fit and painting.  


Mr Marc Benton

Marc is the Chair of the Finance & Foundation Committee and has been Governor on the RGS Board since 2015. 

Marc has worked for the North Sea Transition Authority (the “NSTA”) since 2020 as the Head of Investor Finance. The NSTA is part of the UK Government charged with regulating the UK offshore oil and gas industry and developing the energy transition. Prior to this role, Marc was an experienced Managing Director with a successful 23 year history of working in the investment banking industry.  Skilled in M&A and general corporate advisory, Capital Markets funding (equity and debt/high yield) and general Corporate Finance for Corporates, NOCs and Private Equity.  He led regional investment banking sector teams for 12 years in both EMEA and APAC. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) with French from the University of Birmingham and a European Master of Business Science from Ecole Superieure de Commerce, Clermont Ferrand, France.  


Mr Chris Dixon

A former Chinthurst Governor, Chris joined the RGS Board of Governors in March 2017 and is a member of the Estates and Premises Committee. 

Chris was educated at Malvern College, Worcestershire. Chris then went on to study a combined honours degree in Economics and Geography at Exeter University, following which he joined the University’s Law School, where he achieved a Diploma in Law and sat his LPC. 

Chris is a solicitor with a specialism in commercial and residential property.  Over a 14 years period, Chris climbed up the ranks at Ashurst in London.  He then moved for 7 years to Rawlinson Butler in Crawley. He is now a partner at Bowles & Co in Epsom. 

Chris is married with two children, both formerly at Chinthurst, then going to Epsom College.


Mrs Mary Edmunds

Mary joined the Board of Governors of Reigate Grammar School in 2018 with a focus on strategy, people and growth. 

Mary sits on the board for Hines Europe Limited, a global commercial real estate firm. Educated in the US with global experience in business transformation, human resources and strategy, Mrs Edmunds arrived at Reigate Grammar School with a global perspective. Mrs Edmunds is a Senior Managing Director for Hines Real Estate. She studied Economics and Psychology at Vanderbilt University in the United States and her Masters of Business at Exeter University, UK. 

Mrs. Edmunds has worked in business education with Harvard University since 2014 to deliver leadership programmes for a sovereign wealth fund in the Middle East. Having seen education from a global perspective and taking a deep interest in the future of Reigate Grammar School,  

Mary is married with two daughters, who both have graduated from Reigate Grammar School. 


Mrs Joosje Hamilton

Joosje was appointed a governor at RGS in June 2024 following the merger with Micklefield – before that she was Chair of Governors at Micklefield School since December 2017. Joosje is a member of the Education & Welfare Committee. 

She is a solicitor specialising in EU and UK competition and regulatory law and sits on the Education & Staffing Committee.  A few years ago, she decided to leave full-time employment in the City and became a part-time legal consultant.  She now spends the majority of her time running and developing her family’s agricultural estate, including managing its residential and commercial property portfolio.  Joosje’s three daughters had a wonderful education and happy time at Micklefield School and RGS and she is therefore delighted to contribute to the future success of the RGS Group of Schools.


Mrs Maxine Hulme

Maxine is Vice Chair of the RGS Board and Chair of the Governance and Risk Committee. She joined the RGS Board following the partnership between RGS and Chinthurst School, announced in March 2017. She was previously the Chair of Governors at Chinthurst School. 

Maxine has been working in the private sector since 2016 within financial services where she has worked in financial services transformation and is currently an operations Director. 

In her earlier career, Maxine served as Deputy Assistant Commissioner in the Metropolitan Police Service, holding senior roles in Transformation, Operations and Intelligence. In recognition of outstanding service, she was awarded the Queen’s Policing Medal in 2014.


Mrs Lisa Page

Lisa joined the RGS board after the partnership between RGS and Chinthurst was announced in March 2017. She was appointed Chair of Education and Welfare for the RGS group in March 2025.  

She is an accomplished Healthcare Director with a career in operational management within the UK's Healthcare sector with a strong track record in growing private patient healthcare services within NHS trusts,  within some of the world's leading hospitals in London.   

Throughout her career Lisa has held a range of senior leadership roles with operational oversight, strategic planning and complex capital projects across multiple sites. She is passionate about service excellence and consistently delivering outstanding outcomes, which has been recognised through multiple awards for best hospital performance.  

Lisa has extensive international travel experience to expand services abroad whilst establishing and strengthening strategic global partnerships.


Mr Dominic Roberts

Dominic joined the RGS Board of Governors in May 2025 following the merger with St Christopher’s and is on the Finance and Foundation committee. He was previously the Chair at St Christopher’s School.


Mrs Maggie Stilwell

Maggie joined the Board in 2023 and is a member of the Finance & Foundation Committee. 

Maggie has recently retired as a Partner at EY, having worked for the firm for 28 years specialising in forensic accountancy. Maggie has worked across industries for clients during that time, as well as having a senior management position for the firm of EY. Maggie has given evidence to courts and arbitrations on behalf of her clients, and acted as judge for commercial disputes requiring an expert determination process. Prior to working at EY, Maggie worked at PwC in the audit practice, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Business from Edinburgh University.


Mrs Rebecca Sturt

Rebecca joined the board following the merger with Micklefield in 2024 and is a member of the Education & Welfare Committee.

Rebecca graduated from Cambridge University with a master’s in manufacturing engineering. She worked in the energy sector and medical equipment manufacturing before becoming a teacher in 2004. She has worked in education for 20 years as a maths teacher and more recently has also been an EPQ coordinator. 


Mr Chris Townsend

Chris was a Governor on the Board at Boxhill School previously and joined the RGS Board following the merger in 2025. Chris is a member of the Education & Welfare committee and oversees the Boarding at RGS Surrey Hills. 

Chris has been the Head at Felsted School in Essex for the last decade, having previously worked at Stowe and Dean Close. He taught Classics and has also held roles as Deputy Head, Head of Boarding and Master in charge of Cricket and was a Housemaster of both day and boarding houses. In April 2026, he will take up the Headship at Cheltenham College.  Chris is also on the Board at Essex Cricket club and is a trustee of the charity Chance to Shine, as well as being an ISI Inspector.


Mr Nick Weber

Nick joined the Board of Governors of Reigate Grammar School in 2018 and is a member of the Finance & Foundation Committee.  

He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University. All five of his children have been educated at Reigate Grammar School. 

Nick is the Founder and CEO of Henderson Park, a 92 person real estate investment firm focused on the UK and Continental Europe. Henderson Park manages $6 billion of investor equity, and to date has invested over $14 billion in building a portfolio of real estate assets across Europe. 

Prior to founding Henderson Park, Nick was a founding partner at Mount Kellett, an $8 billion multi-asset class investment platform, and ran its European operations from 2008 to 2015. Before joining Mount Kellett, Nick spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs, becoming a partner in 2006.


Mr Ed Wheeler

Ed is the Chair of the Estates & Premises Committee and joined the RGS Board in 2021. 

Educated at Douai School, Reading and the Polytechnic of the South Bank, Ed qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1986, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1994. He joined his firm as a Director in 1987 and has been Chairman since 1997. 

His practice encompasses all aspects of construction cost and contract consultancy and has successfully delivered a wide range of commissions for major national and international Clients as well as UK developers, public authorities, charities and private clients often working closely with world renowned design teams. 

Ed is a member of Old Reigatian RFC and the MCC and is married with two sons, both of whom attended RSM and RGS.
