The Upper School at Reigate Grammar School encompassing the Third, Fourth and Fifth Forms (Years 9–11) is an exciting stage in your child’s journey. It is a time of challenge, growth and opportunity as students explore their academic passions, develop independence, and prepare for the future.
Whether students have been with us since the First Form or are joining us at 13+ from another school, they are welcomed into a caring and ambitious community where they are known, supported and encouraged to be themselves. This is a school where students don’t just fit in, they belong.
We want every student to look back on their Upper School years with real joy, remembering not only what they achieved, but also the friendships, moments and experiences that made them who they are.
From exciting trips and co-curricular activities to leadership opportunities and creative projects, there is something for everyone to enjoy and grow from.

Personal growth and academic stretch
In the Upper School, students begin their GCSE journey a year earlier than most schools. This three-year model gives them the time to learn deeply, think independently and explore subjects in a way that produces great results without unnecessary pressure.
Alongside the academic programme, students continue to enjoy sports, drama, music, clubs and more. They are also guided by teachers and mentors who help them build life skills, grow in confidence and become truly future ready.
This is also where students begin to take the lead in their learning, their personal development, and their choices. They are encouraged to design their own path with guidance from caring staff, a brilliant electives programme, and our expert careers team.
RGS: Where Potential Grows
Throughout it all, the support never fades. From Form Tutors to the Head of Year and Head of Upper School, every student has access to a lifelong network of support, ensuring that their RGS experience is one they will carry with them not just through school, but well beyond.
RGS is proud to be part of the global High Performance Learning programme — an innovative educational framework based on research into how young people think, behave and learn. It aligns closely with our belief that high performance is attainable for all, and helps every student grow into a confident learner, a global citizen, and a thoughtful, ambitious individual.
