We hold Nearly New Uniform Sales each term in the PMH – dates can be found in the school calendar and reminders are included in the Weekly Bulletin in the run-up to each sale.
We run these sales to give parents the opportunity to buy good quality second-hand school uniform at significantly lower prices than brand new items and to facilitate the recycling of outgrown uniform, while also raising funds for the PFA.
We can only run successful sales if we have a good amount of stock, so please do consider donating your child’s outgrown uniform or consigning it to us to sell on your behalf.
The information below explains how our sales operate, but please do contact us at [email protected] if you have any queries.
Donating or selling items
You have two options:
- You can donate your nearly new items to the PFA, so the PFA receives 100% of the sale proceeds. To do this, please ensure your items are clean with any labels/names removed or rendered illegible and leave them at the Porters’ Desk in a bag clearly marked ‘PFA Nearly New Sale’.
- You can sell your items on commission, where you receive 70% of the income and the PFA receives 30%. This process is explained below.
What items can we accept?
We only accept current compulsory uniform and sports items. Most of the items are branded with the RGS logo, but some are not – they need to be the items available from Ellis Scott or from Kukri Sports.
We cannot accept any uniform items that are out-of-date or generic items that are similar but not the official uniform items.
Kukri sports kit is always very popular, especially the smaller sizes for new starters.
Due to a lack of storage space and low demand, we do not accept the following: pullovers/jumpers, boys’ grey trousers, old-style girl’s skirts, white shirts/blouses, old-style house t-shirts (the cotton polo shirts), white PE shorts (the new PE shorts are navy blue), sports kit from sports tours, old-style (non-Kukri) sports kit. Please do not include these items in your donations or items for sale as we will not be able to sell them and we do not have the resources to provide a recycling service.
Local charity Stripey Stork will accept all generic uniform items that are in good condition, but you must arrange this directly with them.
All items must be in good condition (no rips, holes or stains), washed and clean, with pockets emptied and name labels removed or the name made illegible. If items donated or consigned for sale are not of sufficiently good quality and hence deemed not acceptable for sale, we reserve the right to reject or dispose of such items.
Consigning items for sale
To consign items for us to sell on your behalf, please email [email protected] with the following information: your name, telephone number, email address, bank account number, bank sort code and name of account holder. Your information will be held securely under GDPR rules.
On receipt of this information, we will send you an individual Seller ID number for use at all future sales, as well as a sheet of labels for you to print, complete and attach to each item.
Items that are not labelled with a Seller ID number will be classed as a donation and you will not receive payment for these items when they sell.
Please attach the labels to your items securely using safety pins. In terms of pricing, items are typically priced around one third of the current new price. Once labelled, please leave your clean labelled items at the Porters’ Desk in a bag clearly marked ‘PFA Nearly New Sale’.
Any unlabelled items that we receive will be classed as a donation and will be sold with all the proceeds being donated to the PFA.
Payment for your items
When an item is sold, we use the Seller ID number on the label to identify you for payment purposes, so please check that your Seller ID is written clearly. Payment for all items sold throughout the school year is made in the summer holidays at the end of the school year, usually by the end of July. Please note that there is no notice given as to when or how much your sales income will be, it will just be paid directly into your bank account.
